A Drive to Tamhini Ghat, The Fifth Wettest Place in India.

Known as india's fitft wettest place Tamhini Ghat is one place that is sure to keep you spellbound.A mountain passage that cuts through Sahyadri, it is the patch that connects Pune to the Konkan area. Visiting the place during monsoon would give you ample of exciting and awesome scenes to capture. Placed at the crest of the Sahyadri, the whole area lights up with beautiful waterfalls and an experience of beauty you would love to cherish for the lifetime.

Pune in itself is a place that makes you want to go back again and again and i am sure each of you who has been to this place and has lived there, you know the magic the place holds. Tamhini ghat is one of the best places around Pune that you can visit during weekends and it sure provides you a glimpse of the best in nature with the parched land around turns into a green carpet with flowers blooming, the hills half covered with mist and stretched across the sky like giant walls, the waterfalls trickling down the hills and the shadows playing mysterious games with your eyes and the monsoon rains making you dance with its flickering trance. Near this greenery land is a small temple of Vanjai hidden amongst the valley and its vegetation. Driving towards its will sure make you relive a dream of passing through a fairy land.

During monsoon you can see the area at its greenest best and turns out to be a feast to your urging eyes. Another awesome addition to this beauty is the Mulshi Dam that resides right next to it and it is there to give you a twist of backwaters and river rafting experiences. You are sure to catch a gander of landscapes that surprises you at each turn with its fantastic sights. The dam attracts a lot of tourist from far and wide especially the young crowds. Do not be surprised to watch people jostling each other and getting totally drenched here because where is the fun if you do not become one with the nature. I assure you, no water park in the world could give you the amount of fun you enjoy here with the cold gushing water and the rocky hills.

There are various small stalls around the Tamhini ghat and Mulshi Dam area where you can get a bite, try out the delicious roasted corn, salty boiled nuts and a hot cup of chai. After getting drenched and all that fun you had, a hot cup of coffee will definitely feel like heaven and walking on a road less travelled.

You can reach Tamhini ghat either from Mumbai or Pune. It would be around 150 km from Mumbai and 90km from Pune. The nearest railway station and airport would be in Pune as the place is not connected with any rail road. Hire a cab from Mumbai or Pune and go to this place during one hot summer weekend. There are also resorts around the area if you would like to get away from the urban life and be one with the nature for a day.

Travel back in time and let the monuments tell you the story of its glorious past. No matter how you describe, you soon run out of words to tell about this stunning surreal beauty. Situated near the banks of Tungabhandra River, the place has everything to offer you. Get a taste of hippie culture in its Hippie Island, enjoy a coracle ride, enjoy some quality time with Laksmi, cliff jump with the local kid, get dazzled with the fort like entrances and walk down the memory lane by cycling around the long lost fortresses.

Our journey to this mystical land of ancient forts and palaces started on March 2015. Never did we think that the place would give us so much happy and cherished memories. 

I met Natasha just a month ago and we were already making plans to few of the most epic places on Earth. Till then i never heard the name Hampi nor did i ever think it would be so marvellous. Never did i think that within few weeks of meeting i would be making plans with Natasha for an all-girls trip to an unknown land. 

I was so glad i met her because till then i never met a girl who was as crazy about travelling as i am. 

It was my first self-financed trip and it will be the best till my mind still works sane.
